Top 5 Best Washington D.C. Wedding Venues
Top 5 Best Washington D.C. Wedding Venues – Local & Nearby “Destination”
Congratulations! You’re engaged! And now that you’re engaged, its time for you to plan a wedding! As a fine-art wedding photographer with over a decade of experience, I can tell you that Washington D.C. is within reach of so many of my very favorite wedding venues! I will go over the list of them here. You are in for a real treat!
1. Perry Belmont House
The Perry Belmont House honestly just doesn’t even seem like it could be a real place. Especially not in the center of such a major city! After all, it’s located only 1.5 miles from the National Mall of Washington D.C.! This incredible mansion was build in 1905 as a place to entertain the highest level dignitaries. Having been built by a renowned French Architect, it also features so many lovely french details. The tall ceilings and windows, statement double staircase, detailed moldings, and rich colors will truly transport you to a french chateau.
Imagine dining with your guests and looking out at all this historic european beauty flickering softly under candlelight. This place is truly a sight to behold. As a wedding photographer who has seen many venues, I also think that the Perry Belmont’s rates are VERY affordable for a wedding venue of its class and central Washington D.C. location!
2. Meridian House
Again, the Meridian House is an absolutely gorgeous estate. Situated almost impossibly close to downtown Washington D.C., this wedding venue is located only 2.4 miles from the National Mall. For those involved in politics, it may be a fun tidbit to know that The Meridian House was actually designed by the same architect who created the Jefferson Monument.
Being so close to downtown, you may be surprised to hear that the Meridian House is surrounded by private gardens. There is even enough space to hold an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception! However, the indoor options are great as well. Any intellectual or book lover is sure to adore the sweet green library filled floor to ceiling with books. I know I sure do!
3. Great Marsh Estate
Here, we’re heading a short ways out of Washington D.C. into Virginia. The Great Marsh Estate is located only an hour outside of D.C. surrounded by sprawling countryside. This wedding venue is perfect for those looking for a more laid back rural vibe, but want to stay close to the city. In terms of style, the Great Marsh Estate is a two story mansion built in concrete- reminiscent of the historic government buildings of Downtown D.C.
Here at the Estate, you are rewarded with wide open lands to roam and photograph along with complete privacy for you and your guests. The rooms here are beautifully decorated as well. As a wedding photographer, I can tell you this place is just a dream come true!!!
4.Big Spring Farm
Getting a litttttle further out of Washington D.C. into the rolling hills of Lexington, I just couldn’t leave Big Spring Farm off of this list. This is a great option for couples living in Washington D.C. who are looking to plan a destination wedding within easy reach. After all, Big Spring Farm is located only 2.5 hours away from downtown D.C.
Big Spring Farm is a getaway from it all. Truly, though only a couple hours from the city lights, you will be transported into a bygone era. For example, cows and horses graze the nearby fields. And the barn reception venue faces towards a peaceful pond. All in all, this is a perfect place to spoil all your guests with unforgettable memories. As a wedding photographer, I always love coming back here!
5. The Omni Homestead Resort
I’m finishing up with the farthest wedding venue from Washington D.C. on this list: The Omni Homestead. The Homestead Resort is located about 3.5 hours from downtown D.C. But, if you’ve been here, you would definitely understand why this is on my list.
The Omni Homestead Resort was built with a very presidential feel reminiscent of Washington D.C., but situated in the Allegheny Mountains of Hot Springs, Virginia. For example, the president’s bar is full of presidential portraits. Additionally, the resort, and its associated hot springs have been visited by politicians and presidents for hundreds of years. Then, to top things off, the stately resort was built with magnificent columns reminiscent of the White House. The Homestead Resort is a great wedding venue for Washington D.C. lovers looking for a sophisticated mountain getaway.
