” I am obsessed with your eye and aesthetic! There isn’t one in this group of photos that I wouldn’t want- my gosh, these have captured the beauty, the love and the celebration.
Thank you for these images and for being a huge part of this event.”
Brandon, Mother of The Bride
A few favorites above…now onto the rest of the experience.
This couple chose to book 3 separate sessions of coverage that included their Wedding Day, Welcome Party Coverage, and Engagement Session. I’ll share a brief snippet of their other sessions to set the tone for their incredible ceremony and reception day, which will be shared in detail below.
ENGAGEMENT SESSION:
Kaki and Blake booked an engagement session as part of their wedding package. Neither of them are fans of being the center of attention, but they definitely wanted pictures with their black lab Guinness along. So we planned for a laid back session near their home in Chapel Hill, NC that doubled as a Guinness love fest.
REHEARSAL DINNER:
About one year later, we met up again at the stunning Taubmann Museum of Art in Roanoke for their Welcome Dinner celebration. As humanitarians and environmentalists, these two threw an elegant and earthy party among the arts
Lets take a moment to appreciate Kaki’s artsy pants… all the heart eyes!
With live music, incredible food, and good company, everybody had a fabulous time
WEDDING DAY:
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: The Wedding Day. Kaki & Blake’s beautiful and unique day took place entirely at Kaki’s parent’s estate in Rural Virginia. There couldn’t have been a more perfect place for their celebration.
True to her own tastes, Kaki wore a fun pink rainbow sequined gown in lieu of the traditional white dress
As adventurors at heart, it seemed fitting that guests were escorted across the property to the ceremony site by four wheeler… driven by Kaki’s brother no less. Kaki and Blake planned for a big bash of a reception, but opted to keep their ceremony very intimate.
Guiness’ mom and dad are married!
We head back across the property where the Sperry Sailcloth reception tent is, awaiting the rest of their guests to arrive for the party. Organic and elegant, their planner and Designer- Caroline LaRocca, put together an incredible garden wedding space fit for this earthy couple. Even honoring Kaki’s request for no cut flowers and including all potted plants and trees for sustainability.
We capture some pics of Kaki and Blake, along with their close family and friends as guests begin to arrive by bus
Everyone has arrived, the band starts playing, and the drinks start flowing. This tented garden reception had the vibe of a food and music festival experience for all in attendance.
Kaki changes into a red jumpsuit for her flower petal exit with blake. Don’t you just love her?
Thank you so much Kaki and Blake for having me at your incredible estate and allowing me to capture these wonderful memories for you and your families! I have cherished getting to know you and your families and being a part of this with you all! ~XO Michelle

Eco-Chic Extravaganza: Kaki and Blake’s Unconventional Wedding Bash
The idyllic countryside became the canvas for an eco-conscious fairy tale as Kaki and Blake tied the knot at her family’s sprawling farm. A celebration that transcended tradition, this unique wedding blended sophistication with sustainability in a way that left guests spellbound.
Eco Backyard Wedding with Sperry Tent
Under the expansive canopy of a Sperry Sailcloth Tent, every detail reflected the couple’s earthy personalities. Potted plants and trees adorned the venue, creating a festive coziness that perfectly complemented the rustic charm of the farm. In a bold departure from convention, cut flowers were nowhere to be found, replaced instead by thoughtful touches that echoed a commitment to eco-friendliness. Their planner and designer, my talented friend Caroline LaRocca of Caroline LaRocca Event Design did an absolutely exquisite job!
A Day Planned and Photographed in a way that Suited the Couples Personalities
Kaki, an almost anti-bride, defied norms in her fashion choices, and oh, did she stun! For the ceremony, she floated down the aisle in a dazzling pink rainbow sequined dress. A vibrant reflection of her spirited personality. As the day turned to night and the beats of the live band filled the air, Kaki emerged in a fiery red strapless jumpsuit, ready to dance the night away with Blake.
Editorial and Documentary Wedding Photographer
The photography style echoed the essence of the day—documentary and editorial shots capturing candid moments while painting a vivid narrative. Each frame immortalized the emotions, the laughter, the love, and the unconventional elegance that defined the celebration.
Virginia Wedding Photographer
Guests reveled in the extraordinary experience. Indulging in boxed waters and reveling in the contagious energy of the live band. The fusion of traditional and unconventional elements elevated the event. Creating an atmosphere that was both captivating and environmentally conscious.
Roanoke Wedding Photographer
In a world where weddings often follow a predictable script, Kaki and Blake scripted their own tale. A vibrant, eco-chic extravaganza that not only celebrated their love but also championed a cause close to their hearts. As the night came to a close, one thing remained clear. This was a wedding that dared to be different, leaving an indelible mark on all who were lucky enough to witness it.
Thank you so much to these two for including me in their incredible memories! It has been such a joy to get to know you and your families! ~Michelle
